Wampun Shell Catboat Pendant

Wampun is the purple color shell from the quahog clam, native to New England which was used as money by American Indians to trade with Dutch settlers. The one I use to inlaid this catboat comes from Waquoit Bay in Falmouth. All the shell pieces are handcut and later inlaid in sterling silver. This piece has it on the sail, the hull and even the bail, which is an enhancer that can be open to clip on customer's own strand of pearls or chain.
