Inspired by Alexander McQueen's Horn of Plenty, this brass pendant employs a similar technique used in my polymer clay pendants. Two feathered wings resting gently form an elongated heart shape. The back is hollowed out, revealing a heart chamber within.
This is part of my Whirls Collection. The Collection features clusters of organic shapes that inspires imagination. Someone may see it as feathers, flowers, leaves or even coral. It is edgy but still with a subtle sensibility. I created these pieces in clay models first, then I develop a wax model out of it, cast them into metal, hand polish to either a natural brass satin finish, or finish with a process of oxidization and wax coloring with guider's paste by hand to create an antique feel. The effect of the color is different every time and will change overtime as all oxidized metal pieces do. You can see from the 4th and the 5th picture that sometimes it could be darker to an almost bluish color, and sometimes a little lighter in bronze green. Every piece is unique.
The pendant measures approx. 1.5 x 2.25 inches in size, suspended on a rope chain of 30 inches long which is completed with a lobster clasp so you can add extension if you prefer the chain to be longer.
