Enigmatic white 90-unit origami sphere suspended within a delicate cubic frame of dyed and lacquered tiger maple. Pure white 7 inch diameter ceiling lantern with soothing diffusion of light from single 20 watt bulb (included) suspended inside. Ceiling lantern made with durable translucent parchment paper and shoji paper bound by translucent white Nori (Japanese rice-based) glue. Lantern is supported by steel clip attached to power chord above 70-watt UL-approved candelabra light socket which is sealed with black shrink tubing. Solid maple cube is 12 x 12 x 12 inches with red-dyed epoxy reinforcing corners. Highly figured maple is oiled, dyed with light-fast aniline dye, sealed with shellac and coated with 5 coats of brushed lacquer creating vivid depth and jewel-like luster. Cube is suspended from lantern with transparent nylon thread embedded within each of the eight corners. Intriguing contrasting shapes and reflections of light create fascinating mobius illusion of cube folding around lighted sphere. Shape is beautiful and intriguing even in daylight even when not lighted. Comes wtih 15 foot white power chord (convo for custom in-line dimmer switch or wireless remote control for additional fee).
Pictures cannot do justice to the quality of light and appearance of Golden Heart Illumination lanterns. The lanterns themselves are an interesting sculptural art form with infinite variety of light density and surface texture within each unit. When illuminated, the effect changes dramatically with light intensity (adjusted by dimmer switch or varying bulb wattage), and with changing the ambient lighting where the lantern resides. The structure of the folded, woven and layered shoji paper lantern is remarkably strong because of the intrinsic geodesic skeleton and durable translucent adhesive binding it into a sturdy cohesive unit. I You will not be disappointed with this beautiful one-of-a-kind light sculpture.
