White Oak Picture Frame
The oil-on-canvas painting in the pictures was a wedding gift that needed a proper home. The frame is an exercise in simplicity, allowing the quarter sawn white oak and its gorgeous ray flecks to shine through. A rabbet cut along the inside of the frame adds texture and nice shadow lines to an intentionally understate piece. It could easily be fumed with ammonia to give it a richer, darker color, but the lighter natural color was more appropriate here given the painting being exhibited.
