Customer wanted a king size platform bed with a "whitewash" finish. Both the headboard & footboard were made with ship lap boards in the middle, dowel construction between structural members, and reinforced with Kreg holes/screws. Locking metal hardware (which can be disassembled) was installed on the long rails and bottom of the legs. Customer preferred slats to support the mattress and weight of sleeping on the bed instead of using plywood. The customer was shown how to assemble & disassemble the bed, which is very simple & require only the use of a drill/driver bit. Two coats of a whitewash stain were applied to the bed parts and after it dried, a top coat of satin polyurethane was applied for protection. Bed measures approximately 54" tall (headboard) x 84" x 87" long.
