Firecreekforge.Com Wilderness Bowie 7

Visit www.firecreekforge.com for my latest available knives.
This is the Wilderness Bowie. It is constructed from tough 3/16" 80CRV2 high carbon alloy steel, and micarta or wood handles with solid brass bolts. This knife is a candidate for the "only one knife" requirement.
It is large enough for some real chopping, and heavy batoning/splitting, yet useful for a myriad of other cutting tasks. This allows the user to forgo carrying a hatchet or larger cutting tool if desired when out in the back country.

The Bowie features a flat ground blade.

All my knives are built from scratch. I begin construction with a blank bar of steel, blocks or sheets of handle material, and any other raw materials needed for the knife. My forged spring steel knives are created from reclaimed vehicle spring steel. Each knife is made by hand; in fact the only time these knives leave my hand or are not under a tool directly in my hand is during the heat treating process. Even then, I quench each knife individually while holding it with tongs as it comes out of the forge during hardening.

I cut and shape handle material from blank pieces of stock, and often from natural materials harvested directly from nature. The handles are secured with epoxy and solid hardware. Each knife is truly one of a kind. While I offer specific models, you can be assured you own the only Williams Built knife exactly like it.

I hand build and hand stitch the leather sheaths from scratch. I make the Kydex sheaths from scratch as well, forming, riveting, and finishing the material.

I've been using knives for years. I'm always thinking of improvements to make a better blade. Because of this, I have come up with several of my own designs. The custom blades shown represent years of knife use and tweaking to put all of the best features together.

Pictured with leather sheath, Kydex is available as well.
