Windingoak Table

This form is intended to show off a graceful and rhythmic curvilinear symmetry, while conveying a sense of weightiness, stability and dynamic repose. The form is comprised of two identical parts, each with four "branches". One part is reversed and interlocked with the other to form a solid, bottom-heavy table base.

Each part is made from two dozen iterations of the same curving profile which have been cut from 5/4" stock and face-glued together. The parts have then been lightly shaped and finished with rubbed oil. The wood is black walnut.

The version pictured was designed to be a low table supporting a square top. The interlocking base design can be modified to produce tables in a variety of sizes and heights.
