This art piece is a combination of reclaimed barnwood and a tree sculpture that was cut from raw steel which is 1/16" thick. There are multiple steps involved in the making and planning of this unique art piece.
The first part of the process involved developing the tree drawing, which I was able to duplicate it onto the sheet of steel. This was cut with a plasma cutting tool to create the tree sculpture. I then took the steel and gave it a nice aged looking patina. On the steel, there is a combination of the original black coating and rust spots, which gives a nice natural look. I also clear coated the steel to preserve it. I then built the artwork on a solid backer board with a dark espresso stained hardwood frame. Next, I applied all the barnwood strips that vary in depth to give the art piece some depth. All the strips of wood are completely natural in color, there are no stains that has been applied to the inner pieces. I then applied two coats of low VOC water base sealer to preserve the art piece. Once finished, I was able to drop the steel tree sculpture into place and installed another frame that locks it in place.

This artwork measures 24″H x 16″W x 2″D.

I hope you like the uniqueness of this piece.

Each art piece is hand signed and dated in the back.

I also include a heavy duty mounting brackets.

The final product was exactly what we expected. Craig's communication was excellent and very timely. The product arrived expertly wrapped and on time. The hanging system that Craig has is so simple but effective and makes the installing/hanging of the piece very easy. It was a pleasure dealing with CarpenterCraig.
