This was a sign for the wine cellar of a French wine collector. The frame of the sign was assembled using mortise and tenon joinery. The letters of the sign were cut out on a CNC plasma cutter then heated and given a hammered texture. The grape leaf was forged and veined by hand then shaped using custom leafing hammers. The entire sign was assembled using hot collars (a traditional joinery technique) and finished with a clear acrylic to prevent oxidation and deepen the color of the metal.
