This neckpiece was commissioned by a a person who identifies as femme- and who didn't feel recognized within the queer community unless she was specifically at a queer event. She commissioned me to make this piece of jewelry, featuring a silver and brass labrys, with silver bone-like pieces, rivets and triangle design elements, finished with a handmade clasp- with the intension and hope of being recognized as a person in the queer community- when she didn't have a more recognizably queer person by her side.
It was my privilege to make this piece and I'm delighted that she has said she feels it is genuinely full of power and magic!
When I make this wearable art jewelry for a client- I consider it a collaboration and work to really get what people are drawn to and interested in. I end up feeling like a channel- and it seems that what ends up getting created comes through me and is able to reach the visions and desires of my client, both physically and spiritually. It is my deep pleasure to work in these kinds of relationships.
