Zinc Coffee Table
Zinc Coffee Table with Blackened Steel Base. The Zinc is wrapped around a plywood sub top. My client wanted something that already looked weathered with a nail pattern and rough looking solder joints. We nailed it!
This application can be used on any table top or counter top. This particular zinc table was chemically etched to give it the dark gray weathered look. It was then sealed with 3 coats of industrial lacquer designed to be used on Zinc (as well as other metals). You can leave the Zinc unsealed and let it patina naturally over time. This would give it a very raw look.
One of the pictures shows the table before it was weathered. It is bright like aluminum. It can be sealed as is and left bright. The chemically etched patina can also be lighter or darker, like blackened.
All of the Zinc is glued to the plywood substrate and there are no sharp edges. You can set drinks on any part of the surface as it is uniformly flat. The nails and solder are slightly raised but not enough to make objects unstable when placed on table.
Dimensions: 42" diameter x 18" tall. Top is 5" thick.
This type of table can be made in any size and in any shape. It can also be made with different finishes. Nails and exposed solder are not the only option. If wanted, a very clean look can be achieved.
