This piece was inspired by the ambiguous nature of my current relationship to Zoom. At times, it is a way to keep in contact with loved ones as physical proximity is limited. But I confess, sometimes I feel like it's a chore reflecting the saturation that comes with ease. I wanted to express both the joy of coming together in and the need to flee from the tidy boxes we frequently find ourselves in. The fused glass is composed of hand raked glass with indigo insets. Hand raked glass cabochons, glass frit and stringer are sintered onto the surface of the glass adding texture, depth and a sense of movement to the piece. The glass is seated in black slate and framed in wood.
