This project was enjoyable because this retired professor knew exactly what she wanted: book cases for a specific linear footage of books; a comfortable place to sit while looking through a book and finally she didn't want it to overwhelm her condominium. She wanted a warm "English walnut" look of many of libraries she had used during her career.

We couldn’t be more overjoyed with our table! George LaRue Downing’s friendly manner made the design process a breeze. We only had a rough idea of what we wanted at first, but with George Downing’s expert suggestions, we felt confident settling on a design. It is evident that a lot of workmanship has gone into the making of our table – the top is made out of a lovely piece of curly maple and the finish is like silk. This table is going to be with us for a very long time.

The experience with Downing Fine Woodworking exceeded expectations. This was a collaborative effort with back and forth over the best design for the table- both from an appearance and structural standpoint. The quality of workmanship was superior and the color matching with existing furniture was excellent.Pricing was very competitive and I believe we ended up with a table that could not be matched by any furniture manufacturer that we researched in detail. This experience has made me a believer, that with a quality supplier, custom ordering by internet is a real opportunity. It was a real pleasure working with LaRue and believe we will do it again!
