This chessboard is made of solid walnut and maple and finished with Danish oil; of course any choice of woods are available. No veneers were used to make this chess board. The square are made of 1/2 inch pieces and are left visible underneath as to show the solid construction. The border is made using a layering process then routed to give a decorative profile and separate the colors.
