The Prospector also makes a great sailing canoe with the addition of lee boards, rudder, and sail which we also custom make to your specific needs.
We at Randall Dauss Woodworking also build traditional cypress or cypress/cedar strip built canoes along the 16 ft. Prospector lines. These awesome and very sea-worthy canoes typically weigh just 65-70 lbs and can carry 600 lbs. With a minor tumblehome and medium rocker, these craft maneuver single-handed almost as easy as two person. Any one looking to step in to the best in canoeing would do well to try a wooden Prospector. We will custom build your canoe traditionally with 64 steam bent oak ribs, or in a more modern fiber glass-over-wood style.
