This is a bench made for a customer who needed an entryway bench with a place to store shoes. The base is made of steel, treated with gun blue and linseed oil. The top is a piece of reclaimed pine which was a joist in a mill in Durham NC for a long time. It still has some of the sawblade texture, notching, nail holes and other marks on it from its previous life, but it's been planed and sanded to the point that it's smooth and safe to run a hand along.

Now residing in its new owner's home in Chicago.
