'40 Ford Woodie Treasure Box

I owned a '40 Ford Coupe Deluxe when I was a kid. When commissioned do this scale model for the client's husband's birthday I got a chance to re-visit my youth. Although he has a fine collection of superb European classics, this archetype of American automobile manufacturing was his favorite driving car. It was used to transport their daughter and her new husband to and from the church.

The ebony, aspen and purpleheart wheels roll. The top opens once the spare tire is swung out of the way revealing the keyed lock. The body is purpleheart to mimic the deep maroon of the original, the windows teak. Door handles and metal buttons are made from nickel plated escutcheon pins. The finish is multiple coats of hand rubbed lacquer just like a restored classic.

I know there's a Rolls-Royce Shooting Brake out there somewhere that's eagerly awaiting to made into one of these treaure boxes!

Dimensions: Approximately 7" x & 71/2" x 18".
