All-Natural Appalachian Cutting Board

As an environmental educator I enjoy connecting people with the wonders of our natural world. I have a tremendous amount of interest in the trees that shape our forests- from their ability to sustain our ecosystems to their uniqueness and beauty.

These boards are crafted using beautiful planks of black walnut, maple or cherry- featuring the rich hues of heartwood contrasting with the lighter sapwood, and are from here in the Southern Appalachians. A natural edge on one side serves to remind the user of the forest from which it has come, and a rounded hole serves as a handle or to aid in display.

Boards have been selected from planks that are free of knots, cracks and other features that may impact the safety of the board as a food preparation surface. Boards can include bark along the edges if requested, though this rustic feature precludes the board from some kitchen applications. Custom sizes can be accommodated up to 12 inches wide and 36 inches long, and can vary from approximately 1 inch in thickness to up to two inches. Prices are based upon overall size ($0.50 per square inch). For example, a 12x10 inch board costs $60.00.

These boards will serve you well as a serving platter or for use as a cutting board. They are treated with a beeswax, mineral oil mixture.
