Barnwood Hope Chest
32" Wide x 16 1/2" Tall x 15" Deep, 38 Hours
The panel is lipped over the frame to prevent moisture from being able to enter the box in any way. The underside of the lid is molded using a shop-made molding plane.
The entire chest was made from one 10'x 15" x 2" Oak board taken from a 150 year old barn. The dovetailed case was re-sawn and grain matched all the way around. The brilliant colors are result of natural ammonia fuming from the animals who lived in the barn.
The ogee feet are joined with a splined mitre for durability and a long life. The chest can safely hold up to 250 pounds.
The Barnwood Hope Chest is finished with boiled linseed oil and a hot parrafin wax application.
