Battery Powered Display Tray Lamp

I love these sorts of "solution lamps". My client wanted to light an antique tray table on which she displayed her collection of porcelain figurines. Not only did it have to be elegantly simple, it also had to create a very specific light quality. There were no power outlets anywhere near the display. It was against a cinder block wall, under a stairwell. My solution involved an off-the-shelf, 36" wide, dimmable, LED, picture light meant to go on the wall above a painting. It was battery powered to eliminate wires running down the wall. This was exactly what I needed for our project. I came up with an idea for a walnut and brass adjustable frame that would hold the picture light we had purchased. I made a battery pocket with a narrow lid that has a handmade rosewood handle.
The brass parts of the lamp have been treated to a dark bronze patina which contrasts nicely with the gold finish on the picture light. The adjustable height, built into the lamp's tubing frame, makes it possible for the light to perfectly cover the tray.

Dimensions: 24" wide x 42" high (adjustable 3" up or down) x 4-1/2" thick body.
