Birdseye & Curly Maple Entertainment Center
Birdseye & Curly Maple Entertainment Center
This piece is actually 6 separate pieces that come apart with bolts for easy moving. Based on a design from Woodsmith magazine, it holds a 40" flat screen, but it's big enough for up to a 50" upgrade. Custom Fixed shelves were built to hold all the electronic gear including a couple vintage gaming systems (yes that's an original Nintendo.) The glass doors allow the remotes to work on the equipment behind them. I used seedy glass (with the bubbles in it) to compliment the birdseye. Four drawers house plenty of DVDs, The dovetailed drawers are shown off with Blum's under-mount soft-close drawer slides.
5 LED puck lights in the top bays show off family photos, art and knick knacks
For the finish I used shellac to really enhance the figured grain, followed by semi-gloss polyurethane for protection.
