After meeting with our client in the family eating area adjacent to her kitchen, we noted colors she favored for redecorating the room and calculated appropriate size and shape for a lamp to hang over the table. Jay used mathematical calculations and a paper model to design the nine-panel three-tier fixture. He selected domestic hand-poured opalescent glasses featuring shades of blue, green, violet, and celery to build the lamp and fabricated it with copper foil, finishing with a copper-bronze patina on the solder. He outfitted it with a globe-enclosed bulb and wired it for direct connection into the ceiling, to be operated with a wall switch.
