This book is made in the traditional way, with pages sewn in signatures. The book uses watermarked 100% cotton ivory Southworth resume paper. The covers are thin strong plywood, lightly stained, and black and brown leathers. Leather bands go all the way around the book, front and back, and snap close with two push snaps.
The edges and corners of the wood have been sanded and slightly rounded. The wood has been stained with MinWax Special Walnut stain. I was going to varnish the boards, but I love the feel of the bare wood, so I just sanded them down a bit with Emery paper.
The horizontal leather bands wrap around, and close the book with magnetic snaps. These open easily, but close firmly.
This book is a delight to look at, and to feel in your hands, and will be a delight to use. Leather and wood being what they are, the book you get will look a bit different from the book pictured.
This book is MADE TO ORDER, and will ship the third business day after you order it.

I ordered this journal for everyone in the office to sign or comment for a retirement gift of a gentleman that has been with the company for 40 years. When I received it I was blown away with how wonderful it had turned out. I'm mean I got pictures in advance but they do not do the actual product justice. I would and will be highly recommending Jonathan Day to others Thank you so very much.
FANTASTIC! Absolutely wonderful craftsmanship and quick response. It was exactly what I was looking/hoping for. I would recommend Jonathan Day Book Art to anyone looking for a nice personalized journal.
A gorgeous piece turned around incredibly quickly by a lovely man. I could not be happier (she said yes!).
It was a great experience to work with Jonathan Day on a custom project. As an "empty nest" gift to my mother, we had him make a custom guestbook for her - knowing she is so hospitable that her home will never truly be empty! It was beautiful and my mother was very impressed with the book. I ordered the book very late - under extreme expedited conditions - and Jonathan Day communicated well throughout the whole process, even answering emails late and letting me know it would be out as soon as he possibly could. I didn't give enough time to the shipping company for the gift to arrive on time, but Day did all he could.
