This design I derived from several elements found in the pages of the 11th century Book of Kells, preserved and cataloged by the Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. The artistry of 3 monks and their scribes, this ancient manuscript contains a wealth of Celtic weaves, borders, symbolism, and embellishments. I feel humbled by their creativity and devotion to their project, and hope to draw inspiration from their work for years to come.

This piece is machine carved in alder, hand sanded and finished with a natural oil/wax combination, and is just shy of 15" in diameter.
