One of my favorite parts of custom built in's in the problem solving.
In this situation the customers were adopting a child and needed to make a small bedroom more functional.
You can see in the before photo's that there was an existing space to hang clothes, but just below that was literally just a hole in the wall.
We decided to leave the existing hanging space untouched to keep the budget down, but to bring the face of the dresser to the ceiling to help make the built in look more like a complete unit instead of an afterthought.
We decided to leave the upper half open for the sake of simplicity, but if needed doors can easily be added in the future for hidden storage.
The whole unit is built from white oak. This is a hard, durable wood that should stand up to years of use from a child.
