Caitlin's Walnut And Wenge Lift-Top Desk

The lift-tops bring many inquiries. This one is based on Terry's Lift-Top Coffee Table. Caitlin uses this as a convertible table/ desk in her workspace. As a desk, the drop legs are needed for the stability required for writing or working on the desk when open. The hinged drop legs fold up and clip securely to the underside of the tabletop. They then hide inside the table box when the top is down.

This is unstained walnut. This is very lovely walnut. Caitlin decided to paint the interior black and did a lovely job of it. The desk is finished in Danish Oil and Satin Wax - a largely impervious finish that can be spot refinished if ever needed (haven't seen it yet), unlike urethane coatings, which must be stripped completely for any small marring (yuk). Moreover, when you touch this tabletop, you are touching wood, not plastic. There is storage inside the table box, but not in the center where the mechanism resides.
