Caliper Chair
The Caliper Chair is simplistic in design but has a certain elegance with it's gentle curved contours. The curved leg assemblies are fabricated using a tapered bent lamination method in which multiple pieces of tapered wood are laminated together and conformed against a mold. The chair is designed as a working piece that would easily accompany a small table or writing desk. The form was influenced by the symmetrical contours of a caliper.
