Pottery Knitting / Crochet Yarn Bowl

This beautiful and easy to use hand thrown pottery yarn bowl keeps your yarn ball under control although possibly not out of the paws of your playful cat. A perfect gift for the special person in your life who loves to knit or crochet.

This yarn bowl is made with a curvy J shaped slot plus 2 individual holes to guide your yarn while the bowl holds the ball to prevent it from rolling away from you. Use the slot if you want to change out the yarn without cutting or use one of the holes if you are able to finish your project before removing the yarn ball. The bowl is heavy enough and has a wide enough base to resist sliding or tipping over. The maker takes great care to make the J hook and holes smooth to avoid snagging your yarn. When using the J slot, turn the bowl slightly away from yourself to create a bit of tension on the yarn.

This yarn bowl is created on a potter's wheel out of stoneware and fire them to over 2300 degrees F. The J slot, holes and decorative flowers are carved when the bowl is leather hard. All the edges are smoothed with a chamois to keep yarn from caching on the edge of the J slot or hold. This yarn bowl is available with blue or red flowers surrounding the cut-out holes and red or blue flowers with yellow centers around the back of the bowl.
