Charcuterie Board (Or Tabletop!)

This piece was created as a wedding gift for some close friends. They love to host, so I wanted to create a unique board that could be used to serve guests. The board is white oak, with 3 "ribbons" of contrasting hardwoods running the length of the piece and overlapping each other. Curved edges soften the piece. Setting the ribbons off to one side and the thumb hole off to the other creates a pleasant asymmetry. The board is roughly 2 feet long and is a great conversation piece - the ribbons blow people away.

The third picture here is a scaled up version that was done for a customer. She wanted a tabletop for a wire frame wine rack, so I enlarged the board, eliminated the hole, added battens to the underside to keep it flat and upgraded to a durable varnish finish.
