Cherry And Claro Walnut Desk
The elegant and free-flowing design of this custom Cherry and Claro Walnut desk dresses up its cache of secure storage. Lockable cabinets with adjustable shelves are housed in the front of the desk behind arched doors. Four file drawers with built in hanging file supports, two supply drawers with adjustable dividers, and two secret drawers (all lockable) are accessed from the back of the desk. A collapsible reading stand, that can be removed and used anywhere, also has it own storage area on an inside panel. What this desk does not have are sharp corners or edges to interrupt the flow of your hand as you caress the piece.
The Claro Walnut used for the carved end panels and the curved breadboard ends of the top of this desk came from a solid slab that was forty inches wide, twelve feet long and three inches thick (needed for the deep carving). The center two planks of the top are bookmatched and have several intriguing pairs of small, solid knots.
