This is an old piece and a style I developed when first starting woodworking, yet remains very popular among some of my customers. The straps across the cherry planks are oak and the dowels holding the legs are walnut. Now that I examine some of the lines, I believe it could do better aesthetically from the wood being a bit thicker and chunkier. If you are interested in this style I have also made a door and smaller foot stool that follow the same aesthetic.
