"Blest Are They" (Orchid) Dining Room Stained Glass Windows

To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, a couple asked us to design stained glass windows for the upper half of their dining room windows. Orchids, which symbolize love, inspired the design entitled "Blest Are They Who Stand Upon Their Vow," a line from a poem by the mystic Jessica Powers. In the final creation, Dendrobium orchids are executed in mouth-blown transparent and hand-poured opalescent glasses using colors that complement the room's decor. Colors form passages through the windows rather than adhering to nature's patterns. Varied lead widths further contribute to the abstract effect. No marriage matches a pattern; it evolves somewhat mystically, through the couple's creative love in the exigencies of everyday life, as an organism of great beauty.

At the clients' request the two panels were framed and hung in the window so they can later move them.

Dimensions: Two panels each 32.5" w x 22" h
