Holly And Steel Modern Coffee Table
This was my first project through Custommade. It was a really challenging and fun piece to make. The client had a piece of kiln dried holly they wanted turned into a coffee table. The wood was beautiful but not in the best condition. I had to rip it down the middle, hand plain the pieces separately, and biscuit them back together. It came out great, but was a lot of work. I built a modern steel base and finished it with a darkened industrial steel finish as a juxtaposition to the light finish of the wood. I also added steel end caps to the ends of the wood to tie the whole piece together. The end result is a piece the client was very happy with and I'm very proud of.
