Continuous Arm Windsor Chair

This chair was made using traditional Windsor construction techniques and finishes. The spindles and arm that make up the chair back are oak, shaved to the correct dimension while still fresh and then kiln dried just before gluing into the chair. The legs are done in the same fashion but with fresh maple logs. By working the wood while it is still wet then later drying it, the parts are allowed to swell together making the joints stronger than just a glue joint. The seat is pine, shaped to fit the body's natural contours. The finish is black millk paint over red milk paint, topped with shellac and oil. Design and instruction from Peter Galbert.
