Danish Gustavian Commode

You might call this "Danish Country on steroids", with handcarved shells on the turned, fluted and tapered Louis XVI legs, reeding, recessed and raised panels, pearl beading, dentil moulding, and handcarved "bellflower" details that are actually carved as shell shapes. The graceful sweep of the end panels are filled with a pierced basket motif and painted flowers. This piece was painted by a furniture artist, not me.The gilt details are an authentic touch.
The built-in mirror on the wall above conceals a recessed flat screen TV. The swags and rosettes are all hand carved. I think the frame was originally intended to be finished and gilded similar to the commode, but the owners decided they really liked it plain, so it was left white.

Dimensions: Commode: approx 55"w. x 20"d. x 34" h
Mirror: approx 50" w x 42"h.
