The project is a dining table and eight chairs decorated with relief carvings. Each chair has a different flower, and each flower is paired with a garden friendly bug or bird. The pairings are
1. Rose and butterfly
2. Daffodil and robin
3. Easter lily and ladybug
4. Jack in the pulpit and salamander
5. Sunflower and honey bee
6. Bearded iris and praying mantis
7. Hydrangea and hummingbird
8. Amaryllis and dragonfly
Each chair is carved with a different design of the same pair on front and back.
The carvings on the table base are a collage of these same designs.
The entire set is made of cherry darkened with dichromate, however the flowers and bugs are the natural color of the cherry. To do this the flowers were finished carved first and sealed with shellac, then the rest of the carving was finished, then the chairs and table assembled, then the dichromate and finish applied.
A similar set can be made using a theme chosen by the patron.
Dimensions: table is 30" with three leaves, chairs are 34 inches tall with seat height 18 inches
