This dog portrait is made of three layers of leather plus a pigskin backing. The base layer provides the red background for the dog's head. The second layer is the dog's head which is tooled and dyed, then then background is cut out and glued to the first layer, along with a base for the frame. The third (top) layer is the tooled frame which is glued to the second layer. A stand is attached to the back and all three layers plus the pigskin backing are laced together.
