The stand has approximately 8-9 coats of lacquer applied to the top and the bottom has 2-3 coats. The piece is leveled and feet/pads are placed on the underside. The stand can be stained to your preference or you can keep the natural beauty of each piece. If used as a guest registry, both sides are finished and a light sanding is done for minimizing ink smear and run. The surfaces can be sprayed with a light coat of lacquer after the register is complete to protect and preserve the register.
Please give a minimum of 3-4 weeks for finishing and delivery of these custom pieces.
Stands can also be made with the external bark removed. Please note your bark preference, natural or stained, finish (gloss, semi-gloss or satin) and use when ordering.
As the piece ages, patterns can change and cracking can occur which adds to the beauty and uniqueness of the piece. This will vary depending upon the environment.
Polyurethane is food safe after allowing the lacquer to cure for 30 days at room temperature. Also, if people want to allow direct contact of food, the surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water and properly dried and stored before use. The polyurethane surfaces are not design for use as a cutting board. This will damage and destroy the surfaces and create pockets where bacteria can grow.
Larger diameters are also available upon request. Please provide the diameter and destination so a quote can be provided. Unfinished stands are also if you would like to finish them yourself.
