Recently I had a customer requesting a custom bead design to memorialize her father. After a brief phone conversation we hung up, and I heard a whisper of "firefly". I'm so glad I listened. I ran to the computer to look up if fireflies are in my customer's area, and they are. Being that I'm a San Diego girl, I haven't ever seen one other than on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
I wrote her a quick note to ask her if fireflies mean anything significant to her, and her response was tearful and quite moving. Indeed fireflies do have quite a bit of significance between her and her father. Every summer they would catch them and release them in the morning. Now it's a tradition with her and her kids.
She was so delighted to discover that I had glow in the dark glass. So we incorporated it into her bead. Now her father's memory can be seen in the darkness of night.

So, I now offer this new line, "Firefly", named after this beautiful experience I had with my customer and her father.

Please choose if you would like the ashes hidden or visible. They can be encased in opaque or translucent colors, or encased in clear.






======= CARE & HANDLING OF YOUR LOVED ONE'S PRECIOUS REMAINS =======


ASHES:

Send no more than a teaspoon of ashes; only a small fraction of that will be used. Place ashes in a plastic zip-lock bag labeled with your name and the name of who's ashes are inside. Please be sure to check the seal to make sure it is zipped tight and double-bag the ashes just in case. You may add more than one loved one's ashes in the baggie. Remaining ashes will be returned to you with the carefully packaged bead.




COLLECTION KIT:
You can simply use zip-lock baggies and a spoon, but we do have collection kits available containing a scoop, small zip-lock baggies, and instructions. A collection kit will be mailed to you upon request.


EMOTIONAL DIFFICULTY:
If you have any emotional difficulty with collecting the ashes, please let me know and I can personally guide you and help you find comfort. If you are finding that you don't want to collect the ashes yourself, take the ashes to your funeral director for them to collect a sample for you.

HAIR:

While a small amount of hair is used, it is nice to have enough to handle. A small collection of clippings from a shaver or hair brush is enough, but it is appreciated if you can provide a tuft of the hair. The more you provide, the more you will be able to see the bubbles and black carbon it creates.



SHIPPING:

After your purchase, an email will be sent to you with instructions for collecting and shipping the ashes. Please send one teaspoon of the ashes double-bagged in a padded envelope or box. Address will be given after purchase. Please send via USPS with delivery tracking so you know where the package is when you need to.




RUSH ORDERS:

If you are in a rush to get your memorial bead, I can accommodate with whatever it takes to get your bead to you ASAP. Please add $20 for the rush order.


HAND MADE:
Every piece comes out different as the colors are mixed by hand. Please allow for bubbles as the cremains create bubbles and they may pop and create little holes. This will not compromise the glass. Every bead is unique and size and shape can vary slightly, it is part of the beauty of being hand made.


KEEPING SOME ASHES:


*If you plan to scatter your loved one's ashes, please keep one teaspoon of ashes aside in a safe place for creating your memorial bead.
