We had been seaching for someone to create two 70" kitchen shelves for a renovated partial open shelf kitchen in NYC. We found this particularly difficult during the covid19 lockdown. For someone like me, I need to see, touch, etc. rather than working virtually. Erik made this new way of working seamless. We were in constant communication and he provided video/photos during the process and confirmed progress and decision points at each stage. To allow us to pick the specific wood, he offered a virtual tour of the lumber yard. In the 20 years we've lived in the city, this is our third renovation. I would put Scanek + Co at the very top of a recommended list. The quality of thier work was outstanding and they quickly proved to be a trusted partner in the process. Distressed pine top on contemporary base with sliding doors and adjustable internal shelving.
The top is made of 150+ year old pine and finished with a clear lacquer for protection. The panels slide on a wood track and the handles are aged red oak.
This piece measures, 14" deep, 18" tall and 84" long. We fitted this bench into a Brooklyn loft with a narrow hallway, so space was constrained. We recommend at least 14" deep for the seating area but would optimally settle around 18" for more comfort.
