What a wonderful artist Michelle is! After meeting with us initially to better understand what we had in mind for the transom window, she prepared several artist drawings with suggested themes. Every one was a possibility that we could have been pleased with. With her talent it made it difficult to decide. We settled on one, then changed to another, and finally after incorporating elements from more than one, and with further changes and additions we finally settled on what has become a work of art in the 6' wide arched transom window above our 8' front doors. It incorporates elements of the family's heritage with a truly wonderful rondel at it's center.
This fused glass piece was inspired by the character Llewellyn, the great hunter from Welsh mythology and his faithful dog Gelert. The piece includes hand raked glass for the flames and tree top and a fused glass cabochon for the bosse at the center of the shield. The details are painted on using high temperature glass enamel which is permanent. The fused glass piece is seated in a wood base and has a 4 watt bulb installed at the back. This piece provides a gentle light when illuminated for your sleeping adventurer.
