Our Hand Hewn Beams can be used above a fireplace as a mantel or as large stand alone floating shelves. Each piece is unique and variations will apply. Each and every piece is taken from barns dating from the late 1700's through the early 1900's. Along with the original hand hewing, some will also have circle saw markings, worm holes, knots, nail holes and other markings. These are designed to utilize bracket mounting hardware that is included with the piece. Each piece is routed out in the back so the wall cleat is embedded into the wood and the piece fits flush against the wall.
