Handmade Walking Cane In Satin Burl, Mahogany, Sapele, And Brass - Walking Stick

This exhibition quality cane will be handmade from scratch for you! The pictured piece features a fantastic selection of top-grade, figured woods. The Satin Burl handle is comfortable and the cane is built for daily use. The divider between the handle and shaft is alternating layers of Shimmery Sapele wood and bright brass. The brass accents on the handle and shaft complete the piece and add an artistic touch. The shaft is a piece of old growth Brazilian mahogany that has been in storage for over 20 years, it has excellent figure too! The classic handle shape is comfortable and the cane is built for daily use. We can make it exactly as shown or choose from an infinite number of wood combinations for something truly unique.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for your custom ordered cane to be crafted. Let us know your desired cane height when ordering.

Handle – Satin Burl from South East Asia
Divider – Sapele from Tropical Africa & Brass
Shaft – Mahogany from Brazil

All of our canes and walking sticks are designed and handmade by Shawn Gillis, an artist and woodworker who considers each piece he creates to be his "functional art." We seek out and choose to work with top quality woods from all over the world that are all sustainably harvested. Each cane is designed with durability, comfort, and style in mind so that you can enjoy using your unique piece every day for years to come. Each handle is joined to its shaft with a sturdy metal bolt that provides strength. Our canes are all completed with a glossy finish that provides protection and a smooth feel to the wood.

Here are our instructions for determining your proper cane height:

1. Stand comfortably erect with your hands at your sides, with your shoes on.

2. Have a helper measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of your forearm/top of wrist of whichever hand you wish to hold the cane with. (You may need assistance with the measurement so as to avoid disrupting an ideal posture.)

This method will allow for an ideal amount of bend in your arm. Too much, or too little bend in your arm can cause posture issues and muscle aches.

Shawn work is absolutely awesome!! I let him know what I wanted and it looks exactly like the picture describe and chose. The quality and craftsmanship is out of this world. I just retired from the Marine Corps and have a few hip problems and wanted something stylish and not your every day cane, this is it. I will be ordering another one more than likely next month, just trying to figure out which design I would like next. Is there anyway you can tell me where I can purchase a few more rubber tips. I would like to have them available if needed, I intend to use my cane. THANKS Gary
