Fused Glass Table Sculpture: Hoe A Mau - Gazing At Stars

"Hoe a mau" means to paddle together- to make the most of each contributor's strength. This glass sculpture is composed of three elements: the mountains, the surf and the deep ocean.
The glass was kiln carved with patterns reminiscent of the Ko'olau mountains with their craggy faces, the swirl of the surf as it hits the shore and the beautiful stars of the deep ocean- the sea urchins. Each piece was then kiln formed into curing shapes that interplay with each other. It is set upon a base of travertine framed in mahogany.
This piece makes a unique table sculpture that transmits and reflects the ambient light in the room. Each viewing angle offers a new vista.
Approximate dimensions: 9.5" D x 13" W x 9.5" H
