Inlaid Heirloom Box

21" Wide x 7 3/4 " Tall x 11 1/4 " Deep, 52 Hours

A place for life's treasures, the Inlaid Heirloom Box is made of Black Walnut, Sugar Maple, Amboyna Burl, Brazilian Rosewood, Holly and Ebony. The knobs are nickle plated brass, and the drawers are lined with a royal plum velvet. The box is finished with boiled linseed oil, shellac and paste wax.

The use of Amboyna Burl on the drawer fronts pays homage to Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, famous Art Deco designer. The burl was sequenially cut and then arranged in a four-way bookmatch centering in the middle of the case. Nickle plated knobs elevate the piece to a higher state of lux. The rosewood banding is made in the shop. The case and drawers are dovetailed together using time intensive hand techniques.
