Handbound Journal — One Of A Kind

This is a journal designed for a client who writes short stories. The journal is titled "Summer Dreams" using a theme (telling fish stories) for the design.

The journal is made out of wooden boards (pine) and 80 lb. text paper (acid and lignen free). I used a Ethiopian/Coptic binding. Inside each cover board (front and back) is a recessed frame with a vintage photograph (silver gelatin print). In this particular project, fishing photos were used to tie in the theme of "telling fish stories."

The spine is covered in Moriki tissue paper treated to look like leather and the titling on spine is green buckram book cloth and collage text.

The cover is designed using found objects. Clasp is black hemp cord with a green button.

The journal measures 6" x 6" x 2.5"

End-bands are hand-stitched and each signature has two folios for a total of 15 signatures.
