Leaded Glass Inserts

Two 8" x 20" stained glass panels made for a customer. The pattern was made to an exact size using a template. Once the glass type was chosen the pieces were cut out and then the edges were ground down on a wet saw to remove the sharpness and fit to size. After all the pieces were finished the edges were then wrapped with a copper foil. Once fitted into a template frame the pieces are soldered together on both sides. Then a thin brass frame is cut to size and soldered around the outside of each panel for strength. The panels are then cleaned and a black patina was added to the solder seams. The last step is the polishing of each piece and they are ready for installation into the customer's hand made wood cabinet.
