Mid Century Letter Desk In Walnut
Made from one wide plank of Black Walnut, this desk was designed as a destination to sit, think and write. Within lies a secret compartment. The desk is finished with boiled linseed oil, followed by multiple coats of hand rubbed shellac and a coat of paste wax.
The drawer fronts continuous grain is on display, free of dividers and balanced with simple nickle plated knobs. The case top and sides flaunt a wrapped grain pattern, joined with half-blind dovetails.
The stretcher is a tapered, bent lamination of six walnut shop-sawn veneers. Each end tenons into the turned legs. The feet are capped with hand turned nickel-plated copper sleeves.
