Maloof Inspired Sculpted Children's Table
A handmade, Maloof inspired children's table. The table is a sculpted table with a splined center post and the four legs are joined with a mortise and tenon fit to maximize glue surface area, which results in a strong leg to center post bond. I round over the table top along its edge to remove any sharp corners. The table is inspired by one of the world's greatest woodworkers, Sam Maloof. This table is made one at a time in our wood shop in South Carolina. The table is constructed out of poplar wood and painted your favorite color, but can be made from the timber of your choice. The approximate dimension of the table is 20" high and the table top is approximately 21" in diameter. The table legs are approximately 1-1/2" thick, and the table top is approximately ¾" thick.
