Mountains in geometric shapes
---- Tall White Tetons ----
Original painting of mountains on a patterned sky in yellows and red
soft organic clouds
and a flying flock of birds.
I grew up in Wyoming. Trips to my grandpa's ranch in Medicine Bow were a monthly treat. I got to help with the chores, and be a cowgirl for a day or a weekend. He insisted all of his grandchildren have their own horse and learn to ride. I have forgotten so much of that- including all my equestrian skills, but I have never forgotten what it was like to come over the hill and see the Tetons. Finally out of the subtle plains, the Tetons were so sharp and crisp. Even now, living in Colorado, the Rockies are my neighbor, but much softer and unassuming. The Tetons are sharp and hard and foreboding. They are no nonsense, like my grandpa. They are definitely home.
